I missed the signup period. Can I still sign up?

You can sign up for cub scouts any time if you are the appropriate age. However, there are times of the year that are better than others. The best time to sign up is at our fall School night for scouting in September. See the Signup Info page for more information. Return to top.

How much does it cost?

Currently the signup fee is $20 to $30 per year. This will vary depending on the previous year's fundraiser sales. Then there is the cost of the uniforms and books. The total for a new scout can be around $100. In Pack 3024, our polcy is that any boy that wants to join can join, and if there is a need for financial assistance, we'll make sure he gets everything he needs without cost. All we ask in return is that the boy fully participate in the fundraisers. After the first year it is not uncommon for a boy to have built up enough in his account to pay for everything he needs the next year.

There are also things we do as a pack that are purely optional that cost as well (e.g. hockey games, bowling, winter family outing, etc). We seek to get group rates for these activities, but if you go, you will be asked to pay your portion of the costs. Again, these are optional activities and you are not required to go. These activities will be marked on the pack calendar. Return to top.

When/How often are the meetings?

There is generally one den meeting a week. There is one Pack meeting (all dens combined) a month and most dens do not meet that week. The schedule for the pack meetings is published in late August or early September. It will go through the following June. July and August we do not generally meet as a pack as people go on vacation or to summer camp. The meeting schedule for the dens is left to the den's to determine themselves. The place of the pack meeting is published on the pack calendar and the place for the den meetings is determined by the dens. Return to top.

Can Girsls Join?

No, sorry. Return to top.

How old do you have to be to join?

Cub Scouts is for boys in 1st through 5th grades. Return to top.

My son didn't join in the first grade. Will he be too far behind the others?

In a word, no. Cub Scouts is an age appropriate organization, meaninig that rank is determined by age, not by how long you've been in the program. All first graders are Tigers and work to earn their Tiger badge. All second graders are Wolves, third graders are Bears and fourth and fifth graders are Webelo's. If a boy joins while in the second grade he will work to earn his Wolve badge like all the other second graders and will not be allowed to go back and earn his Tiger badge (because the achievments are apprpriate for first graders). So, join anytime and don't feel like you are behind. Return to top.

Where do the badges go?

When/Where is _____?

Check our calendar. It has Pack Meeting dates/times with links to the locations where the meetings are. Due dates for things like popcorn money, activity fee's, etc. are determined on a Den by Den basis. The Den leaders are given a specifc date they must have these things to the person in charge of that activty. They usaually collect those things at den meetings and give themselves enough time to account for everything and turn it over to the person in charge. So, if your question is about when any of these things are due, please contact your Den Leader.Return to top.

What should I bring to?

Check out the activity under the Caendar. It will explain what you should bring. If you cannot find it there, contact your Den Leader.Return to top.

Who should I make the check out to?

All checks should be made out to Pack 3024 no matter the function or fundraiser.Return to top.

What is a Scout Account and how can I earn money for it?

A scout account is money that is owned by the pack but set aside for use by a particular scout. The money can be used for any scout related expense. Annual sign up fees, summer camp, winter family outing, tickets for the hockey outing are just some examples of things the money can be used for. If a scout quits the pack, the money is forfieted back to the packs control. If the scout moves on into boy scouts, the money will be moved to their boy scout account after one year (to ensure they are staying in boy scouts). Even though the money takes a year to move into their boy scout account, they can still draw on it for boy scout camp, etc. They simply need to ask. Return to top.
